Save the date! Our beloved former Executive Director, Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Hardiman, has arranged to have the Irish tenor, Ronan Tynan, perform a concert at St. Sebastian’s Church, in Woodside, Queens. The concert will benefit St. Sebastian’s parish (where Msgr. Hardiman is the pastor), as well as the Futures Endowment Fund and the Futures Foundation. The concert will take place on Sunday, October 4, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. Tickets for the concert are $50 and $75. Tickets for the concert plus a reception with Mr. Tynan are $100 ($125 for the first three rows). For reservations, call St. Sebastian’s rectory at 718-429-4442.

After a thorough search, the respective Boards of the Futures in Education Endowment Fund and Futures in Education Foundation have hired Anthony F. DiLauro, MSW, to serve as Executive Director of both organizations, starting July 6, 2009.

Thanks once again to the very generous gift from an anonymous donor, 273 students received need-based scholarships giving them the opportunity to attend a Catholic School of their choice for the 2008-2009 school year. The extremely generous gift of $400,000 was matched by the Children’s Scholarship Fund, which contributed an additional $200,000 in scholarship funding. The average size of the gift was $2,198. We are immensely grateful to the donor and the Children’s Scholarship Fund for their generous ways. Through their investment, these 273 have realized their dream of a Catholic education. This gift will ultimately help them shape their future as well as ours.

On February 12, 2009, the Diocese of Brooklyn announced the final decisions regarding the Diocesan-wide strategic planning process known as "Preserving the Vision." The Diocesan Reconfiguration Committee submitted its initial proposals in January 2009, and, after reviewing all of the comments and suggested revisions submitted from parents, pastors, principals and other interested parties in response to the initial proposals, submitted its revised proposals to the Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn, for final approval.
